E-Portfolios and Deep Learning
The article Electronic Portfolios as Digital Stories of Deep Learning had relevant information that will help later on in my career. In the article there were 10 research based principles related to AFL, and the principle that stood out the most would be that “AFL should focus on students learning.” This is important because the students learning should always be the main focus. Educators are here to make sure that their students are learning.
Portfolio assessment potential in the future could be used for important information that was taught in their high school classes that may help them in college. I had a spiral in high school that I would keep important notes in because I knew the notes would come in handy for college. I somehow misplaced the spiral and wasn’t able to go over the information the summer before starting college and I forgot most of the things I learned in high school. Keeping up with a Website would be much easier than a spiral.
The portfolio will be a reminder of all the things that I’ve done in previous courses. Creating the portfolio helped with understanding the whole process and I will definitely be able to teach my students how to create the portfolio because of having the opportunity to create one for myself.
Great quote by John Dewey. Hope we all understand that citation!
